The Black Cod (Anoplopoma fimbria), is considered one of the fishes more precious in the world. It is much appreciated for its tender and white flesh, so tender that it melts in your mouth. For this characteristic is also called butterfish.
The Black Cod is a wild fish that lives in the North Pacific Ocean, in deep seas below 300 meters. Mature fish can reach a sea depth of 1800 meters. It is a fatty fish rich in omega-3 that eats little crustaceans (krill) and cephalopods.
Our Black Cod is fished by hook in the Gulf of Alaska and in the Bering sea. It is frozen at sea. Freezing on board permits to better preserve all the nutritional properties.
